In a powerful display of compassion and commitment to grassroots development, the Dorcas Oyepero Sodipo (Iya Omo-ale) Foundation has once again made a significant impact in the lives of underprivileged individuals through its latest empowerment initiative. The foundation, renowned for its community-driven programs, distributed skills acquisition machines and cash support to numerous indigents, equipping them to start or expand small-scale businesses that will support their families and uplift their standard of living.

The beneficiaries received vital tools including tailoring machines, hairdressing dryers, and grinding machines, alongside cash gifts to further aid their entrepreneurial pursuits. According to the Foundation’s chairman, Aremo Kunle Ola Sodipo, the initiative is part of the foundation’s broader mission to reduce poverty, create self-reliance, and support skill-based employment across underserved communities. He emphasized that sustainable empowerment remains one of the most effective tools for long-term development.

This latest outreach annually done on every June 5th, this year coincided with a deeply emotional moment for the Sodipo family, as it was held in commemoration of the 21st-year remembrance of their late matriarch, Madam Dorcas Oyepero Sodipo, fondly known as Iya Omo-ale. Aremo Sodipo described his late mother as a woman of “unmatched generosity and selflessness,” whose legacy of kindness continues to inspire the foundation’s humanitarian efforts. “I and my siblings emulated these kind gestures and philanthropy of a thing from our parents, and here we are today giving back to the society that made us,” he said.

Aremo Sodipo took the opportunity to advise the beneficiaries and members of the public to carry forward the spirit of giving, urging them to also assist others whenever they have the capacity. “You don’t have to be rich to help someone. With little or more, we can make a difference. This is how we build a better society. Giving is not about abundance—it’s about heart,” he said during the empowerment program, which drew praise from community leaders and attendees.

Beyond economic empowerment, the foundation has also left an indelible mark in the area of public health and wellness. In previous years, it organized free medical outreaches, drawing hundreds of beneficiaries from across the region. During those outreaches, free surgeries were carried out for people who could not afford the cost of treatment, reaffirming the foundation’s deep concern for the total well-being of the less privileged.

Another key initiative of the foundation includes its ongoing weekly radio outreach, where packages of food are distributed every Sunday to indigent callers and verified participants. This unique program, which blends media advocacy with direct support, has become a source of relief and hope for many struggling families. The radio initiative ensures that help reaches people where they are, regardless of physical location or mobility barriers.

The Dorcas Oyepero Sodipo Foundation has steadily grown into a beacon of hope for many, and its story continues to resonate across communities as a symbol of what is possible when compassion meets action. With each program and outreach, the foundation is not only honoring the memory of Iya Omo-ale, but also planting seeds of transformation that will blossom for generations to come.
