The Concerned Ogun Youths Group, through its spokesman Comrade Jinad Hammed, has condemned Governor Dapo Abiodun for allegedly bribing singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable Omo Olalomi, following social media criticism of the Governor over the poor state of Ogun State roads.

It was reported that the Governor allegedly gave Portable a sum of Two Million Naira (#2M) after the singer publicly criticized the state of the roads, which had caused damage to his vehicle. Portable confirmed the receipt of the sum from the Governor last week on his official Instagram page, stating it was compensation for his damaged vehicle.

Portable had earlier taken to social media to lament the deplorable state of roads in Ogun State, which had caused damage to his vehicle. However, in a surprising turn of events, he later confirmed receiving compensation from the Governor on his official Instagram page.

While addressing the press in Atan-Otta on Sunday, Comrade Jinad expressed deep disappointment and frustration with the Governor’s actions, stating that it was unfair and unjust to compensate one individual while many others continued to suffer due to the poor state of infrastructure in the state.

He emphasized that the Governor’s priorities should be focused on addressing the plight of all citizens, rather than selectively silencing critics.

The spokesman further called on relevant anti-graft agencies and the citizens of Ogun State to hold the Governor accountable for his actions, which he deemed as a misappropriation of public funds. He urged the people to demand transparency and good governance from their leaders.
