Buhari mourns Tafa Balogun, ex-IGP

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences to family, friends and associates mourning the death of former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mustapha Balogun.

According to a statement from Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president,

(Media & Publicity) On Friday, he also grieved with the Nigerian police, an institution Balogun served for most of his life.

The President recalls that during his tenure as IGP, Tafa Balogun has done his utmost to ensure that the police perform their legal duties under a democratic dispensation; and his penchant for boosting the morale of officers and men in the Force has been recognized by those who served under him.

The statement said President Buhari’s thoughts are with the family, government and people of Osun state, as well as colleagues and former colleagues of the late police chief.

He prayed for the peaceful rest of the souls of the dead.
