A cloud of sorrow hangs over Ogun State as Chief Mrs. Khadijah Adebisi Edionseri, famously known as “Cash Madam,” has passed away at the age of 89. The celebrated Iya Sunnah of Egbaland, Yewaland, and Ogun State breathed her last on Sunday, January 5, 2025, after a brief illness.
Her passing was officially announced by one of her children, Dr. Adebayo Adebowale, who described her as a matriarch whose life was a beacon of inspiration.
“With immense gratitude to Allah for her extraordinary life, we announce the transition of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Princess Kadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri (née Elegbede). She returned to her Creator on January 5, 2025, at the age of 89. Her departure follows a brief illness,” the family statement read.
Dr. Adebowale lauded his mother’s enduring legacy, highlighting her profound influence on her family, her community, and the state at large.
“Princess Edionseri’s life was a testament to resilience, grace, and faith. She was not only the pillar of our family but also a guiding light in the community. Through her wisdom, kindness, and commitment, she left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her,” he added.
Known for her extraordinary philanthropy, business acumen, and tireless advocacy for socio-economic development in Ogun State, “Cash Madam” was a revered figure whose contributions transcended her immediate environment. Her generosity and business insights earned her respect and admiration far beyond the borders of Egbaland.

Born into the prestigious Elegbede family, Princess Edionseri was a pioneer in her own right, breaking barriers and setting a standard of excellence in both the business and philanthropic spheres. Her unwavering dedication to fostering development and uplifting others defined her life’s work.
The family has announced that her funeral will be conducted in line with Islamic rites on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM at her residence in the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Abeokuta.
