BREAKING: President Tinubu To Swear In Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun Tomorrow As New Chief Justice Of Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu will swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun tomorrow, August 23, 2024, as the new Chief Justice Of Nigeria (CJN).

Justice Kekere-Ekun would be sworn in as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja.

This was made known in a post on Thursday via X by the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.

She would become the successor to Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who retired from service on Thursday, August 22, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of seventy years.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor and the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria , Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun tomorrow at the State House Council Chambers,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, as he retired as Chief Justice of Nigeria after a successful public service career.

Justice Ariwoola had served as Justice of the Court of Appeal in Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos divisions before his elevation to the Supreme Court in 2011.

He was sworn in as Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2022 and had also served the nation in diverse capacities as a judicial officer.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed that the president commends the eminent jurist for his services to the nation.

He stated that Tinubu noted Justice Ariwoola impactful leadership of the judiciary and his efforts in enriching Nigerian jurisprudence, as well as in strengthening the fibre of the law.
