Few months after the 2023 general elections, The federal republic of Nigeria now has a new president and Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. The 71 year old Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been sworn in as Nigeria’s president on Monday, May 29 at Eagle Square in Abuja.

Nigeria’s chief Justice, Olukayode Ariwoola administered the oath to the now president Tinubu and deputy Kashim Shettima.

The new president swore “I Bola Ahmed Tinubu, do solemnly swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria that I will preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So, help me, God”.

The swearing-in was witnessed by some African leaders, the Prime Minister of Gabon, Billy By-Nze, President of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Quattara, The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo; The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.

Tinubu’s predecessors, Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan also witnessed the event. The first lady, Oluremi Tinubu and Nana, the wife of the Vice President were also in attendance.

Eagle Square also had in attendance, Service Chiefs, Governors, Former Governors, ministers and former ministers and Heads of Security Chiefs.
