BREAKING: Politician, INEC Officials Nabbed With Large Cash In Remo Bye-Election [VIDEO]

Security operatives in Ogun State have arrested a politician and some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with a large sum of cash allegedly meant for vote-buying in Saturday’s Remo bye-election.
The arrest reportedly took place at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, where the suspects were allegedly plotting to influence voters during the exercise. Eyewitness accounts revealed that the suspects were caught following intelligence reports from security agencies.
In a video currently making rounds on social media, two individuals identified as INEC staff — a male and a female — were seen squatting on the floor alongside suspected political party members, as they were interrogated by an unidentified security operative.

The security officer, who conducted the questioning in the viral footage, alleged that the suspects had earlier received a large sum of money from a political party for the purpose of swaying votes in the constituency. He accused the politician of conspiring with the electoral officials to compromise the integrity of the poll.
The development has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved to serve as a deterrent against electoral malpractice.
The by-election in Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency was scheduled following the death of the constituency’s representative, Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (Ijaya). Security agencies had earlier announced strict movement restrictions and heightened patrols across the area to forestall electoral violence and malpractice.
As of the time of filing this report, neither INEC nor the Ogun State Police Command has issued an official statement on the arrest.
