BREAKING: Ogun-East NUJ Independent Chapel Elects Maiden Excos

The newly created Independent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) which comprises editors of the newspapers and magazines operating from Ogun East axis of the state, on Thursday September 26 elected the first set of its executive to pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.

The creation of the new chapel is in line with the decision of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council to create additional chapels and enhance ease of administration as well as the continuous growth of journalism profession.

At the first general meeting held at Ijebu-Ode and chaired by Comrade Dayo Rufai of the Gateway Times and Ijebu NewsExtra magazines, the seasoned journalist and publisher highlighted the importance of having executive team that would pilot the affairs of the chapel to the next level in the state.

Among other veterans at the gathering from Remo and Ijebu were the Editors of the Gateway Echo Newspapers, Comrade Victor Sokoya, Comrade Femi Adeleye the former chairman of the Ogun NUJ Federated Chapel among other veterans who were at the gathering.

At the end of the meeting, the group unanimously elected Comrade Oluseun Oduneye of The Issues Magazine (Ijebu) as Chairman, Comrade Fathai Dauworthy (Remo) as Secretary, picked the Vice Chairman slot, Comrade Charles Segun Adegbite (Remo), Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale (Remo) was elected as the Treasurer while Comrade ‘Femi Mebude (Ijebu), Comrade Funmilayo Adekunle0 (Ijebu) and Comrade Victor Sokoya⁰ (Ijebu) were elected as Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary and Ex-Officio respectively.

The new executive are to pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years while their names shall be forwarded to the state council of the union for inauguration.
