Why I won’t return to PDP, APC by Ezekiel Nyaetok
…. joins ADC
By Osondu Ahirika
UYO—Former National Chairman of Young Democratic Party, YDP, Otuekong (Arc.) Ezekiel Nyaetok has stated reasons why it would be difficult for him to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that he left before the April 2019 Governorship elections.
Speaking with newsmen in his Social Housing Estate Office, located at Ikot Ntuen, in Uyo, Nyaetok who regretted the deregistration of the YDP long after he resigned as National
Chairman by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said he would not want to return to a political party which still remains deeply mercantile in her orientation and at variance with his ideals on social governance philosophy.
Arc. Nyaetok who also contested for the 2019 Akwa Ibom State Governorship polls equally dismissed the idea of joining the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, arguing that, the APC is bereft of any discernible ideology and is pretty much the same thing as the PDP, where his vision of a Nigeria where power shifts to the Wards as development centres would not be appreciated.
He said that some chieftains of both parties had made overtures to him to return to their fold, but however disclosed that, after deep reflections and wide consultation, he finally settled for the African Democratic Congress, ADC, which he said, will become a rallying point for the New Nigeria that the oppressed and disempowered masses are yearning for to salvage, rebuild and renew hope in the country.
Nyaetok told newsmen that, he pointedly told chieftains of both PDP and APC, that, Nigerians feel let down, disappointed and seriously betrayed at the direction both parties have led the country in the last 21 years, with PDP ruling for 16 years and APC taking over since 2015.
Nyaetok who frowned at the hopelessness in Nigeria as the poverty capital of the world also regretted that Akwa ibom has been rated by the National Bureau of Statistics as the second highest in unemployment, adding that, the ADC is poised to turn these damning statistics around by redirecting wealth creation, empowerment and development to the Wards as the primary community level through the social governance theory.
Arc. Nyaetok who is also the convener of Nigeria First Project said, the ADC offers him and other like-minded patriots, the platform and opportunity of reviewing the relationship between Government and the people by implementing the Social Governance strategy where human capacity development and poverty alleviation will be the primary objective of an ADC led administration.
The political and social crusader who is world famous for his successfully implemented social housing programme charged all Nigerians who wish to see real and positive changes to join the ADC, so that, the goal of redeeming the nation can be accomplished.
Nyaetok said the PDP and APC have derailed from the vision of building the Nigerian dream, explaining that, only politicians who view Government as a platform to impact on lives and positively improve their society rather than as a means to amass wealth and fame can change the current narrative of misgovernance or outright bad governance bedeviling the nation.
Nyaetok said Nigerians must collectively wake up from their slumber and find a way of redressing that trend, stating, “that is uncompromising belief and all I stand for”.
On the Social Housing Residential Estate in Uyo, Nyaetok disclosed that, the 3 bedroom housing estate numbering over 40 units, located at Ikot Ntuen, opposite the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Olusegun Obasanjo Way is currently selling units of the buildings.
He described the Estate as an affordable, highly subsidized, social housing scheme for low, middle and high income earners, calling on those who wish to buy and own buildings there to contact the Novone Consult Office located at the estate.
He said the Novone Social Housing Estate will be the best residential estate in the State, given, not only its prime location
close to the University of Uyo Teaching hospital with direct access to the upcoming Ikot Oku Ikono Fly over, but because of other attractions, including,
asphalted and paved road network with drainage system, a fully gated estate with premium security, water reticulation system, round the clock power supply, Water treatment plant, four fire hydrants, and CCTV facilities for surveillance among other basic social amenities.
