Nigeria has been thrown into mourning as Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga Oriyomi, fondly known as “Ijaya,” passed away at the age of 59. The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, who represented Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), died after a brief illness, according to reliable sources.

Born on December 2, 1965, in Hammersmith, London, to Nigerian parents, Hon. Onanuga was a trailblazer in politics and business. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and rose to prominence for her unwavering dedication to women’s affairs and social development as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
