2Baba, Alleged Notorious Cult Leader, Reportedly Deceased in Police Operation
Reports indicate that Gift Okpara, commonly known as 2Baba, a notorious cult leader in Rivers State and prime suspect in the brutal murder of former Divisional Police Officer SP Bako Angbashim, has purportedly met his demise.
Angbashim fell victim to an ambush by 2Baba’s gang in Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA in Rivers in September 2023. The DPO was subsequently taken into the forest where he was killed, and the horrific act was recorded by the cultists.

On Saturday afternoon, the police, in coordination with other security agencies, carried out a simultaneous land and aerial raid on the identified hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang in Idu-Ekpeye, Ahoada East local government area of the state. Following the operation, 2Baba and some of his loyalists were reportedly feared deceased.
A senior police source, speaking to TheNation, revealed that 2Baba sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the raid. “2Baba was hit several times by bullets, along with some of his loyalists. Although he fell to the ground, some of his associates managed to remove him from the scene. The police are currently moving in to locate his body,” the source stated.
Obi, another source, reported witnessing nearly 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the raid. While there has been no official confirmation regarding 2Baba’s demise, communities in Ahoada are reportedly celebrating amid rumors of the notorious cult leader’s potential death. The local residents, particularly commended the efforts of the state Commissioner of Police CP. Olatunji Disu, in combating terrorism in the area.
