Boycott Buhari’s Visit To Imo, It’s An Aberration—Activist, Sowore Urges South-East Residents
Sowore disclosed this on his verified Twitter page on Thursday morning.
Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has urged Nigerians in South East region to shun the official visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Imo State slated for today.
Sowore disclosed this on his verified Twitter page on Thursday morning.
Governor of Imo, Hope Uzodinma had said the President would visit the state to inaugurate some projects.
The President is also expected to hold a Town Hall Meeting during his visit which should last four hours.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had urged its members and Imo residents to observe a Sit-at-Home in the state, adding that Buhari is not welcomed in the region.
However, a senior member of the group later denied it.
Meanwhile, the pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has appealed to the President to use his visit to release the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
But Sowore has urged the entire Igbo nation not to honour Buhari’s visit on Thursday.
“I urge the people of South Eastern Nigeria to reject the presence of @MBuhari on their home soil as he arrives IMO state today on a visit. @MBuhari is an aberration and his visit to Imo today is an affront on the sensibility of all citizens in the area!” Sowore tweeted.
