…Senator Gbenga Daniel commends President Tinubu for Naval Base, Dockyard Project, and Coastal Highway Development
The Senator representing Ogun-East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), on Sunday led members of his BATOGD Movement to Ijebu Waterside, urging residents to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Speaking during the BATOGD Mid-Term Community Assessment and Review Tour held at Abigi, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, Senator Daniel extolled President Tinubu’s leadership and reaffirmed his confidence in the administration’s vision of empowering Nigerians through sustainable and strategic projects.
The former Ogun State Governor lauded the President for approving the establishment of a Naval Base and Dockyard in Ogun Waterside, describing it as a transformative economic and security project for the state.
“The people of Ogun State are eternally grateful to President Tinubu for his numerous projects. We will reciprocate his kind gesture with massive votes in the 2027 general elections,” Daniel declared.
He emphasized that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which passes through Ogun Waterside, is already opening up the area for development and investment opportunities.
According to him, the new naval base and dockyard in Ode-Omi will significantly boost local economic activities through job creation and infrastructure expansion.
Daniel recalled that the land allocated for the naval base had been in the possession of the Nigerian Navy for over 50 years without development until now, attributing the renewed progress to strategic legislative collaboration and divine providence.
“It’s not that the Navy was in a hurry to begin work here. It took deliberate and coordinated efforts. We must thank our President and Commander-in-Chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for granting the necessary approvals,” he said.

Reflecting on his tenure as governor, Daniel revisited his earlier vision of establishing a refinery in the area, which led to the creation of the Gateway Industrial and Petro-Gas Institute (GIPI) and the proposal for the Ode-Omi Deep Seaport.
“GIPI was designed to train professionals who would work in the refinery project. Although the plan was stalled after we left office, we are now working to revive it,” he explained.
He further assured residents that whatever projects the state government cannot execute, he would continue to facilitate at the federal level with the President’s support.
“Our President is ready to assist, just as he did when the Federal Government took over and began funding the Tai Solarin University of Education,” he added.
On the ongoing naval base project, Senator Daniel disclosed that the Federal Government would ensure adequate funding for all phases, including accommodation for officers, administrative facilities, perimeter fencing, a Naval Secondary School, and a Naval Hospital.
He concluded by urging Ogun-East constituents and Nigerians at large to stand firmly behind President Tinubu, describing him as a visionary leader committed to national progress.
“President Tinubu means well for Nigeria,” Daniel said. “All well-meaning citizens should support his administration and his second-term ambition.”
