Awujale Stool: Fusengbuwa Ruling House Flags Off Selection, Disowns Fake Candidate List

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode, which is next in line to produce the Awujale of Ijebuland following the demise of HRM Oba S.K. Adetona, has officially commenced the selection process for the revered throne.
In a statement issued on Sunday to journalists, the family’s secretary, Prince Adeleke Adeyemi, cautioned the public against paying attention to a purported list of candidates currently circulating on social media, describing it as a distraction.
He noted that the list did not originate from the family and was the handiwork of unscrupulous actors attempting to cause confusion and interfere with a sacred, time-honoured process.
“This is an important public announcement to all Ijebus at home and in the diaspora that the selection process for the next Awujale of Ijebuland has officially begun, Princes from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House (Agunsebi Quarters) have started submitting their letters of interest in line with tradition.

“We wish to clearly and firmly disclaim the list of candidates being circulated on social media. It is unofficial, unauthenticated, and completely false. It did not originate from the House Secretariat and bears no signature from our Olori-Ebi, Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, or from myself as Secretary.”
The family reassured the public that the process would follow due consultation, traditional rites, and established customs before a candidate is formally presented to the Ijebu kingmakers.
“After thorough consultation, due diligence, and completion of all traditional rites, the most qualified candidate will be presented to the kingmakers,” the statement added.
“This candidate will be a visionary leader, rooted in the rich heritage of Ijebuland yet fully prepared to guide our kingdom forward in an ever-changing world.
Together, we will uphold the dignity of our traditions and welcome a leader who will carry the torch of Ijebu greatness into the future.”
