As INEC Collates Supplementary Guber Results From 10 LGAs, Fintiri Retains Leads

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has retained his lead streak started from the March 18 governorship election as results from 10 LGAs in the April 15 rerun are collated.

Fintiri has polled 4,292 votes from the 10 LGAs collated so far, as against his main challenger, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani who has polled 3,128 from the same LGAs.

Fintiri who had earlier scored 421,524 votes from the main election, now has a total of 425,816 votes,; while Binani now has 393,503.

This will depress many supporters of Binani in Adamawa State and the rest of the world who had known that Binani needed to amass about 90 percent of the votes from the supplementary election if she is to overtake and defeat Fintiri by the time the final results are collated.

A close look at the results so far shows that the leading candidates have largely maintained their hold on the LGAs where they were known to be strong, and the 10 determined so far are shared equally between them in terms of where they would normally be expected to do well.
