APC, PDP accuse each other of Osun violence
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ede, Osun state, have alleged that crooks working for the ruling Democratic People’s Party set fire to the APC secretariat in Ede South and also destroyed the party secretariat in the Ede North local government areas after the elections for governor. The court dismissed the state’s governor, Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement signed by Dr Mufutau Oyewale and 26 other leaders of the APC in the two local government areas in Ede, obtained in Osogbo on Monday, the party also claimed that the PDP political thugs, who went on a rampage shortly after the delivery of the verdict on Friday, carried out their attack on the two APC secretariats in the municipality of Ede.
They claimed that some members of the APC were injured during the attack.
Read the statement in part. “We recommend the state police commissioner and other sister security services in the state to come to the aid of the APC members and leaders in Ede, who are being hunted like animals in the bush by the PDP thugs. We direct the State Police Commissioner to use without further delay the professional tools of his office to investigate, arrest and prosecute the foot soldiers and masterminds behind the needless political assault on our members and property.
But while responding, Osun PDP acting chairman Dr Adekunle Akindele said the party did not harbor any militia group, describing the allegation as a false alarm by the APC.
Akindele said, “Osun PDP has no militia. We have no data on criminals, unlike the APC who sponsored and nurtured criminals and bandits in Ede and Osun during its four-year rule. Osun PDP members only engage in peaceful protests across the state. Our members have not attacked anyone.
“The APC may have deliberately staged fake attacks to raise a false flag.”
