The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in the ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Akarigbo Palace in Sagamu has urged all Iyaloja Generals across the state to unite in support of the newly installed Iyaloja of Remo Land, Chief (Mrs.) Abosede Oduwaye Olasonde. Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor emphasized that collaborative leadership among market leaders from Ijebu, Egba, and Yewa divisions would greatly advance the economic and social development of the state. “There is so much more we can accomplish together when we rally behind good leadership,” the Deputy Governor said on behalf of the governor.

Highlighting the credentials of Chief Oduwaye, the governor described her as a woman of exceptional character and deep commitment to community development. He acknowledged her contributions not only as a market leader but also as a pioneer in the fashion industry, a mentor to aspiring artisans, and a determined advocate for the progress of local markets. The governor further stressed the invaluable role that market women play in driving the grassroots economy of Ogun State, adding that the synergy between their leadership and the state government has led to the successful rollout of empowerment schemes like “Okowo Dapo.” He also noted that initiatives through state agencies such as OSAMCA have enabled women traders to access funds, thereby promoting financial inclusion and lifting many out of poverty.

Presiding over the installation, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, congratulated Chief Oduwaye on her elevation and urged her to maintain open and respectful relationships with Iyaloja Generals from all local government areas within Remo. He tasked her with fostering unity and cooperation among market women, ensuring that her tenure brings stability, growth, and empowerment to all those under her jurisdiction. The monarch offered prayers for long life, wisdom, and good health, encouraging the new Iyaloja to continue honing her leadership skills in service to the people.

Also speaking at the event, the Ogun State Iyaloja General extended warm congratulations to Chief Oduwaye, encouraging her to engage actively with market leaders across all Remo towns. She emphasized that the position goes beyond representing Sagamu alone, and that it now requires building bridges and strengthening market ties throughout the Remo division. She prayed for God’s guidance over the new Iyaloja’s leadership and wished her a successful, peaceful, and impactful tenure marked by compassion and progress.
