The African Democratic Congress has debunked rumors that the party’s candidate for governor in Abia state Sunday Onuoha and three other ADC candidates for the 2023 National Assembly election have been suspended.

The ADC’s South-East Zonal Secretariat made this known in a statement signed by the National Vice Chairman, South East, Chilos Godsent, in Owerri, Imo State.

The ADC said it had read with great disappointment the fake news spread by one Norman Obinna who claimed to be the chairman of the ADC in Abia state and who spread the rumors of the party members being suspended.

The statement also stated that Obinna had been expelled from the party since September 2022.

The statement reads: “As a result of the above, we therefore urge the good people of Abia State to disregard this fake news from Norman Obinna, which was intended to defame the good image of our candidates and the party in general to get material rewards in return from their wage masters.

“We wish to inform the general public that said Norman Obinna has been expelled from the African Democratic Congress since September 2022 for offenses bordering on embezzlement, incompetent leadership and anti-party activities to name a few.

“So the said Norman Obinna is not a member of the African Democratic Congress and is not the chairman of ADC in Abia state.

“The South-East Zonal Secretariat of the African Democratic Congress strongly suspects that said Norman Obinna has been hired by opposition political parties to sow confusion in Abia State ADC family and in the minds of Abia State voters through such fake news spread.

“We are very aware that many political parties in Abia State are very much afraid of the rapidly growing popularity of Bishop Sunday Onuoha and the African Democratic Congress in Abia State in recent times, coupled with the crises in the other political parties in the state of Abia.

“The good people of Abia State cannot sit and fold their hands and watch helplessly as the enemies of Abians deal with the fate of more than six million citizens of Abia State.”
