Abiola’s wife seeks foreign intervention over alleged IGP abuse, son

The wife of the late MKO Abiola, Professor Zainab Duke Abiola, has said she is seeking the intervention of several countries to obtain justice for the mistreatment suffered by the Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba Usman and his son, engineer Ibrahim Usman last year. have received.

Ms Abiola had held a press conference last week to announce the start of legal proceedings against the IG and his son, alleging mistreatment previously inflicted on her.

Professor Zainab Abiola, in a statement signed by her secretary, Dr Jen Clarence and made available to journalists, has asked foreign-based law firms to launch international actions against Alkali Usman and his adopted son on the grounds that the defamation they underwent was in force worldwide.

The statement said Ms Abiola is seeking the intervention of senior lawyers from the European Union, the United States and the Commonwealth to file lawsuits against Mr Alkali baba Usman and his son in their individual capacities as it was a domestic matter.

“Many friends and colleagues in the legal profession called to show empathy when they read about my trials of Alkali Baba Usman and his son, engineer Ibrahim Usman. They were very furious and expressed their willingness to be part of the fight to get justice against the dehumanization, molestation and disgrace at the hands of the IGP Alkali Usman in their different countries,” she said.

However, Professor Zainab Duke Abiola insisted that she has little or no problem with the Nigerian police, but with the person of Mr. Alkali Baba Usman, who allegedly used his office as Inspector General of Police to charge attempted manslaughter and libel against commit her.

“The IGP Alkali Baba Usman and his son used the police and taxpayer money to commit their evil deed against me.

“Furthermore, I want to let the public know about the ordeal of the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sunday Babaji, who was mistreated for telling the truth to Alkai usman and not dancing to the tune of Alkali usman to frame me. The police commissioner has been transferred to Boko Haram-affected areas. This was an unfortunate vendetta on the innocent man,” said Professor Zainab Duke Abiola

Abiola’s wife further claimed that the previous trumped-up charges against her had all been dropped by the courts, explaining that the charges were “nonsense. Nonsense. Annoyance. Void in a case that never happened”.

The statement also said that the court has ordered all parties to the case to maintain the status quo. “Therefore, there can be no question of arrest, kidnapping or abduction of the plaintiffs.”
