“Abiodun Has Failed Ogun! FG’s Takeover Of TASUED Confirms APC’s Incompetence” – PDP

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted Governor Dapo Abiodun and his administration over the Federal Government’s takeover of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), calling it a humiliating indictment of the APC-led government’s failure to manage the state’s assets.
In a strongly worded statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Otunba Arc Kayode Adebayo, the PDP described the takeover as a direct result of the administration’s gross mismanagement and lack of commitment to education.
“For the avoidance of doubt, TASUED was established under the PDP-led government of His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (2003–2011), to expand access to higher education and create employment for Ogun State indigenes. Sadly, under Governor Abiodun’s watch, this prestigious institution has been deliberately starved of funding despite the state’s trillion-naira annual budget,” the statement read.
The opposition party noted that rather than being an achievement, the Federal Government’s intervention signifies Ogun’s loss of control over its own education system, with the state now unable to determine admission policies, staffing, and overall priorities for the institution.
“This tragic loss did not happen overnight. Since 2011, successive APC governments have abandoned TASUED and other state-owned tertiary institutions, forcing them into financial distress. The Abiodun administration, despite making grand claims of economic progress, has shamefully failed to sustain just one of the state’s premier universities,” the PDP stated.

Beyond TASUED, the PDP accused the governor of running the entire state into the ground, citing the deplorable condition of public infrastructure as another glaring example of failed leadership.
“Two days ago, residents of Ota in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government cried out over the total collapse of the Odo’pako bridge, a crucial link between Ogun and Lagos State. This road, hurriedly patched up last year, has now failed, even before the peak of the rainy season,” the party lamented.
It described the condition of Ogun’s road network as the worst in the Southwest, arguing that the ruling APC government lacks the vision and competence to deliver meaningful development.
“Governor Abiodun and his clique of incompetent allies have clearly run out of ideas. Perhaps they expect the Federal Government to take over the entire governance of Ogun State since they have proven incapable of handling even basic responsibilities,” the statement mocked.
The PDP called on Governor Abiodun to give a detailed breakdown of how his government has spent taxpayers’ money on education and infrastructure. It also urged concerned stakeholders, students, and Ogun indigenes to demand accountability before the state’s remaining institutions collapse completely.
“No amount of media propaganda can cover up the truth—Ogun State is sinking under Abiodun’s watch. The takeover of TASUED by the Federal Government is proof of this government’s abysmal failure. Governance is about responsibility, not excuses. Abiodun must answer to the people before he buries the fortunes of Ogun State entirely,” the PDP concluded.
