The Group Chairman of Adron Homes and Properties, Sir Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, KOF, has joined other eminent Nigerians in mourning the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.

In a moving tribute issued on Monday, Aare Emmanuelking described the late monarch’s death as “the end of an era and the ascent of a legend into the realms of the immortals.” He praised Oba Adetona as a towering symbol of identity, unity, and pride for the Ijebu people and the entire Yoruba nation.

Oba Adetona, who passed on at the age of 91, reigned for an unprecedented 65 years, placing him among the longest-reigning monarchs in Nigerian history. According to Aare Emmanuelking, the monarch’s reign was marked not only by its longevity but also by its visionary impact on Ijebuland’s cultural renaissance and socioeconomic advancement.

“His Royal Majesty reigned not merely by the sceptre, but by the rare power of vision, intellect, and integrity,” Aare Adetola said. “He embodied royalty not as a ceremonial relic, but as a living, breathing force that shaped destinies.”

The real estate magnate and philanthropist went on to describe Oba Adetona as a custodian of tradition and a voice of reason during Nigeria’s turbulent seasons. He noted that under the monarch’s watch, Ijebuland was transformed into a beacon of progress, unity, and economic vibrancy.

“To be Ijebu was to be proud. To serve Ijebu was to be honourable. To be under his reign was to witness greatness firsthand,” he remarked.

Aare Adetola expressed his heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Ijebu traditional council, and the people of Ijebuland, urging them to find solace in the unmatched legacy Oba Adetona leaves behind.

“Now, the lion sleeps, but his roar shall echo in eternity,” he added.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late monarch’s soul and for his enduring legacy to inspire future generations across Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.

The death of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who ascended the throne in 1960, marks the end of a majestic chapter in the annals of Yoruba royalty. But as Aare Adetola Emmanuelking so powerfully echoed, his legacy is one that will continue to blaze a trail for generations to come.
