A mayor in Mexico who reportedly overpromised and underdelivered was met by an angry mob of voters who dragged him from office and tied him to a tree for two hours until he apologized.

Voters had elected him on the promise that he would get a water tank for the community.

In fact, Ramirez is reportedly known for his outlandish campaign promises, according to local reports.

He had claimed he would build quality housing along with his water purification promise.

But when voters looked closer at the tank, they found it “in a terrible condition” and leaking.

The whole community was expecting to benefit from the tank, local paper Cuarto Poder reported.

A viral video posted on Twitter then, showed some of the residents’ anger, with one commenting on the water tank: “In some parts it leaks. In other parts, they clogged the holes sloppily.”

Fuming protesters then took the situation into their own hands and tied the mayor to a tree.

He was held captive for two hours before finally being untied, according to reports. He was only released after he promised to get the tank repaired.
