Ogun State Ex LG Political Office Holders (12 -15 Congress) have said that they would sustain their strategy of lobbying critical stakeholders in All Progresives Congress (APC), opinion leaders in the state, some members of the government including leadership of the State House of Assembly to prevail on Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration to settle their unpaid N3.5bn entitlement and right.

The decision followed the outcome of the State Exco meeting of the group under the leadership of Comrade Nuberu Adesanya Olufemi at the weekend where members collectively agreed to adopt rigorous lobbying of the leadership of the APC as well as elder statesmen and leaders of Ogun State to prevail on the government of the day to respect the decisions of the National Industrial Court in respect of their entitlement.

The National Industrial Court(NIC) sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, had on last Valentine’s Day ordered the Ogun State Government to pay former local government political office holders in the state, both elected and appointed (2012-2015 congress), the sum of N3.5 billion.

The said N3.5bn was deemed the amount deducted from their salaries during the then administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

And bid by Dapo Abiodun-led administration in the Gateway State to obtain a court order for stay of execution of the said N3.5billion naira judgement debt owed the affected political appointees was rejected this week by the NIC.

Riding from the meeting, leaders of the ex political appointees noted that they had expected the governor to have constituted a peace and reconciliation committee since 2019 to address the issue but lamented that nothing of such happened.

They also recalled writing ‘Save Our Soul’ letters to over 100 leaders in Ogun State on the denied N3.5bn entitlement and right, lamenting also that no fruitful result had come out of such efforts since.

Undaunted, the ex – political appointees vowed to sustain the lobbying approach until the Ogun State Government under the watch of Dapo Abiodun respects the decision of the court and pays their entitlement.

“As committed party members, we commence another round of lobby and sensitization among the critical stakeholders in the present government.

“We have requested audience with many of them. The first among the leaders identified is Special Adviser on political matters, Hon. Biyi Adeleye.

“Our member met him on and sought his supports. While promising to do his best, he pleaded with our member to sustain our political prowess in our various wards and ensure the success of Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR re-election to enhance our better stance on our entitlement.

“Other members to reach out to are; The Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Commissioner for Finance, the Senior Special Adviser on political matters, the leadership of Ogun State House of Assembly and other opinions leaders in the State,” they said.
