Adeyemi Olamide has Emerged Champion of the 1st Prince Dapo Abiodun Table Tennis Championship
In a very emotional and impressive display between Adeyemi Olamide and Akanbi Ebenezer, Adeyemi Olamide of St. John’s College, Private, Kuto Abeokuta has emerged as the Champion from the 1st Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun Table Tennis Competition.
The event which was held at the Badminton Hall of Alake Sports Center Ijeja, Abeokuta Ogun State on Thursday 10th June 2021 had the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tokunbo Talabi in attendance.
In his brief remarks, the Secretary to the State Government congratulated the young boys and girls on their startlingly display of raw talents. He described Table Tennis as an wholesome game in developing the body and mind. He enjoined the young talents to keep engaging in sports which he said will take their minds away from the inadequacies in their upbringing.
Also in attendance were the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, the Representative of the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Afolabi Afuwape, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun, the Director of Administration & Supply, Alhaji Tunji Kalejaiye; the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth & Sports, Comrade Olamide Lawal, as well as the Director of Sports, Mrs. Iyabo Rotimi.
You will recall that Young boys and girls ranging from 12 to 14 years for cadet and 15 to 18 years for junior category were drawn all over Ogun State for the *1st Prince Dapo Abiodun Table Tennis Competition.*
The tournament which is the brainchild of the Ogun State Ministry of Youth and Sports, under the leadership of *Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde* is in furtherance of the Youth Development Initiatives of *His Excellency Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR.*
The championship was launched to commemorate the two years anniversary of Governor Dapo Abiodun in office and it is aimed at discovering and developing young talents at the grassroot level.
There was also a ceremonial Table Tennis Display between the Secretary to the State Government and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports to lighten the mood of the audience.
The novel Table Tennis Championship which started yesterday Wednesday 9th June 2021 featured cadet and junior tennis players from about 60 secondary schools drawn across the three senatorial districts in the state.
