Communique Issued At The End Of The Virtual (Zoom) National Executives-In-Council (NEC) MEETING, Of The Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW) Held On Sunday, 11th Of July, 2021.
At the virtual meeting of the National Executives-in-Council (NEC) of Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (National Body), held on Sunday, 11th day of July,2021 which commenced at exactly 3:10pm.
Issues pertaining to the current state of the nation was widely discussed and possible ways to treat the challenges facing the general welfare of the entire Yoruba Youths both home and abroad were also proposed, below are the resolutions highlighted:
1. The leadership of the entire Yoruba Youths Council under the auspicious leadership of Aare Barr. Oladotun Hassan Esq. commiserate and as well send heartfelt condolences to the family of our brother Mr Olarewaju Abdulganiu Fasasi polularly known as SoundSultan, a renowned Yoruba born Nigerian musician, we pray may Almighty God in his infinite mercy forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
2. The council also applaud President Muhammad Buhari for his renowned onslaught on bandits wrecking monumental havoc hindering the peace and progress of the country most especially the southwestern region, and further urge all security agencies to rise to their duties against ethnic bigotry.
3. The council also resolved that as youths leaders must call and stand to the unity (Isokan) of all Yoruba Monarchs.
4. The council also constituted a planning committee to organize a World Yoruba Youths Confab and the Inauguration of the National Executives, proposed to be held in the months of December in conjunction with the Palace of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III (The Alaafin of Oyo) to find a lasting solution to all menace facing our region.
5. The council also resolved to call the attention of all relevant Stakeholders, Politicians, Elites across the nooks and crannies of Yoruba Land to look into all matters of grievances with respect to the Yoruba marginalization, menace of the Fulani herdsmen, Kidnapping and chaos from cultism amongst others; however we reiterate that we do not support the use of any form of violence to the unlawful killings and kidnapping of our people, inequality and injustice across the southwest region.
6. The council therefore urge all Yoruba Youths (Omoluabis) to be law abiding and sheath their sword as the Southwest leaders and stakeholders rise to address these our collective grievances through meaningful dialogue and negotiations.
7. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho is our brother, so with that, process is already ongoing as the council resolve to reach out to Yoruba indigenous Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) amongst which are Barr. Femi Falana, to see to how his issues can be appropriately resolved.
8. The council also raise concern on the need to work assiduously on the promotion of it’s members development and proper identification globally.
