Arsenal complete the £50 million signing of Brighton defender, Ben White

After a dragging transfer saga linking Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White to Arsenal earlier this summer, the Gunners’ bid for White was rejected twice before an agreement was finally reached with the Seagulls.

According to Arsenal.com, Ben White has finally completed his big-money move to the Emirates from Brighton in a £50 million deal.

The 23-year-old defender joined Arsenal ahead of the forthcoming season and signed a long-term contract with the club on Friday that will run until 2026, with an option for a further year.

The England international became Arsenal’s third signing of the summer after the arrival of Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga from Benfica and Anderlecht respectively.

With the departure of David Luiz and William Saliba being sent out on loan to Olympique Marseille, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been searching for a new centre-back that will strengthen his defence ahead of the coming season.

Ben White had an impressive campaign with Brighton last term, which lured Arsenal into signing him from the Seagulls.

When asked in an interview with the club “What can the fans expect to see from you”?

He replied, “It’s always a hard question, this one. When times get hard in games, I can step up and control situations. I’m very relaxed on the ball and, through that, I can produce quality in bad moments of the game. “
