You Are Osun Central Sports Ambassador; SRJ Tells Paralympian
Senator Ajibola Basiru has announced the appointment of a Nigerian paralympian and indigene of Osun from Oba Oke, Olorunda North LCDA, Osun Central Senatorial District, Mujidat Olaitan Ibraheem, as Osun Central Sports Ambassador.
At a reception held for the powerlifter at his Senatorial Office, Osogbo, Senator Basiru described the feat achieved by Mujidat as unprecedented in the history of sports in Osun State. The lawmaker thanked the paralympian for doing the Country, the State and her Senatorial District proud.
“God knows the reason He created you the way you are and you have turned the apparent setback into a chain of achievements. Let this be the beginning of good things in your career.”
“Let the sky be your starting point. Do not rest on your laurel. We still expect more medal haul in future local and international events. To this end, I announce you as,”Osun Central Sports Ambassador.”
Appreciating Mujidat’s coach for a job well done, Senator Ajibola Basiru promised Mujidat Ibraheem support in her training to win more medals in powerlifting. He called on youths in the State to take advantage of Osun Youth Policy Document launched by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and keep clear of crimes orchestrated by indolence.
Deputy majority leader, Osun House of Assembly, Hon Kunle Akande, Hon Taofeeq Badamasi representating Osogbo at the House of Assembly, Senatorial Leader Hon Adeoye Adelakun, former Deputy Speaker, Hon Akintunde Adegboye, all the five chairmen of Osogbo and Olorunda LGs and LCDAs all spoke glowingly about Mujidat Ibraheem’s performance and feat at the Paralympics in Tokyo where she won bronze.
They encouraged able bodied youths to take a cue from challenged Paralympia and make the best use of their youthful blood to build careers for themselves in sports.
Mujidat Olaitan Ibraheem had earlier represented Nigeria in powerlifting in Manchester, England, Mexico, Kazakhstan and Algeria where she won medals.
