Stop Pardoning Terrorists And Criminals, Instead Release All Political Prisoners Unconditionally, Atiku Begs FG

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate in the last general elections, on Saturdayday, called on the Federal and State governments to release all political prisoners.

He made the call in the spirit of the forthcoming 61th Independence celebration of the country.

Part of the statement, he shared via his social media handle, said;

“In the spirit of our forthcoming 61th Independence Anniversary, I call on the Federal and State Governments, to release all political prisoners and detainees and discontinue the prosecution of such individuals.”

“If Nelson Mandela could reconcile with those who imprisoned him for twenty-seven years, we can reconcile with those who have disagreed and protests against your government, we can’t continue jailing agitators and protesters, they’re our brothers and friends, let them come out and enjoy a #Fresh #Air as we do, he added.

Recall, that Nigeria marked her golden independence celebrations on Thursday, October 1, 2020, where President Muhammadu Buhari berated previous governments from 1999.

The likes of Sowore, Sunday Igboho, Nnamdi Kanu and many other prisoners of conscience in detentions, infact deserves to be negotiated and reconcile with.
