Ogun Ex-Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel Backs Dapo Abiodun Amidst Ambition Conflicts

Influential politician Gbenga Daniels remains in the camp of Governor Dapo Abiodun emerging details revealed.

The former Governor was one of the big guns in the politics of Ogun state that identified with Governor Abiodun on Saturday, October 16, 2021, despite talks of a possible clash in political interest.

Daniel attended the congress staged by Governor Abiodun backed All Progressives Congress to elect new party executives in Ogun State.

The congress held at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

A parallel congress backed by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun held at Ake, within the compound housing the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

Eaglesforesight gathered that Daniel’s appearance at the M.K.O Abiola’s stadium of the Governor Abiodun’s faction boosted the confidence of loyalists in attendance.

This is despite the raging talks of a possible clash in political ambitions.

Daniel also a former Governor of Ogun state has declared interest in the Senatorial seat of Ogun East while Governor Abiodun wants to seek re-election.

“The trouble is they are both from Remo, the same political zone in Ogun East whereas the arrangement in that axis is that Remo and Ijebu which is the other zone share political offices. If the Governor comes from Remo the Senator has to come from Ijebu or vice versa, the same zone can’t produce the Senator and Governor” Eaglesforesight learned.

Daniel’s strong show of interest in the Ogun East senatorial seat is said to be troubling the re-election ambition of Abiodun but all that was put aside when the former Governor appeared at the venue of the congress on Saturday.

There are, however, muttering that Daniel’s move is the smart political play from such an experienced politician.

“Even if Gbenga Daniel decides to work with Amosun who persecuted him beyond measure when he (Amosun) was in power, you don’t expect him to show his hands this soon” Eaglesforesight gathered.
