Rep Onanuga Ijaya Breaks Silence, Reveals How N50M Was Spent On Constituency Projects
The Honourable representing Remo Federal Constituency, Rep Onanuga Oriyomi Adewunmi Ijaya has break silence on the issue of the allegedly fifty million naira spent to repair and paint transformer fence.
When contacted by one of the Eaglesforesight correspondent, she revealed her own side of the story on the breakdown of the money spent.
Abamiedablog was earlier quoted on one of Eaglesforesight publication that the Rep member spent the sum of fifty million naira to just repair transformer and paint the fence.
Below is what Honourable Ijaya reveals to clear the air on the escalated matter.
“Thanks Prince, it was so unfortunate that some people can comfortably sit down and out of malice, ignorance and frustration, will want to spoil a good deed of one, but forgetting that, that was what actually gave orile oko light after 18-years of darkness.
To get the full picture of the project, one will need to get some further Informations from the women centre with regards to what type of contract was awarded, the BOQ of the contract and if the BOQ was complied with, but I will tell you what I know of it, Hon. Ijaya stated.
Hon. Ijaya said; “To my understanding, orile oko and environs had been in darkness for well over 15 years since the Electrification that was done for the community by the former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba (as he then was) had been vandalized.”
When the said project was inspected before we concluded working on it, I was made to understand that; “awarding a fresh contract would cause wastage” as there were infrastructures in place that could be resuscitated ie the transformers, poles and including those armoured cables because bringing light to that axis will cost nothing less than two hundred millions Naira, Ijaya explained.
“I know of a fact that one new transformer and nine poles were in the bill of quantities for the 1st phase but the damages done to infrastructures and poles over the years required over forty new concrete poles because of the distance covered and of course rehabilitating the transformers at Ajebo and Fidiwo which are not even part of my Constituency!”, She said.

If transformers were refurbished, it must have been the requirement in the bill as I am sure the contractor would not have been given a clean bill if he had not complied with the Centre requests as orders came from the Centre and approval of the work.
Hon. Ijaya challenged her accusers to go and count how many transformers were been worked on, If a new transformer bought 18 years ago has just only minor things wrong with it before it can function well, should such transformer be thrown away and a new one bought with Agencies and ministries not having fund to work with everywhere?
The new transformer that was in the bill was for Atoba Village because they didn’t have anyone at all till this moment, while the one for Ajana village is 11kva and could not be used but had been accommodated in the next phase which covers the remaining villages, Ijaya explained.
“I had not done a rejoinder because ICPC is already looking into it and I’m not a contractor, I did not award the contract all I wanted was for my people to have light after 18 years. So when the ICOC finish their investigations, the accuser will meet all those they allegedly accused in court but whether they like it or not, Orile Oko and its environs will have and must enjoy light even if I have to go and tap it from Abuja gan gan sef and not Ajebo”, Rep. Ijaya confronted.
