NATIONAL CENTRE FOR WOMEN DEVELOPMENT REPAINTS A TRANSFORMER ‘FOR ₦50M’ IN OGUN
A transformer was repainted and reinstalled instead of being replaced in the Orile Oko community of Remo North, Ogun state.
This rural electrification project is overseen by the National Centre for Women Development. FIJ learned that ₦50 million naira was allocated for the rural electrification project but the agency did not install a new transformer.
A public accountability monitoring body, revealed that the rural electrification project execution in Remo North local government area is bogus and fraudulent.

“We tracked and reported that NO new transformer was delivered, rather the old existing one was repainted and installed,”.
The Orile Oko community witnessed the installation of a 500KVA transformer in 2021. Unfortunately, the arrival of this transformer failed to give the community a lasting solution to its age-long power problem.
An original 33kv 1500KVA Power Transformer costs as much as ₦48,000,000 while a 500KVA Power Transformer costs ₦4,100,000.
The ‘new’ transformer in Orile Oko was one of three projects commissioned by Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, First Lady of Ogun State, on March 10.
This refurbished power transformer was facilitated by Ms. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the legislator representing Remo Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.
