…Ogun PDP says endless blame game a reflection of incompetence and failed leadership

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration over what it described as the government’s persistent failure to address the deplorable condition of roads across the state.

The opposition party, in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Hon. Rotn. Abayomi Tella, accused the governor of engaging in “unproductive blame games” against past administrations instead of focusing on delivering critical infrastructure that directly impacts residents’ lives and the state’s economic growth.

According to the statement, Ogun residents are increasingly disillusioned by the administration’s “lack of focus, poor performance, and apparent insensitivity” as bad roads continue to cripple transportation, trade, and daily activities across the three senatorial districts.

“It is shameful that, after more than six years in office, Governor Abiodun still blames his predecessors for Ogun’s infrastructure woes. The state now ranks among those with the worst road networks in Nigeria despite its strategic location and economic potential,” the PDP stated.

The party lamented that several communities — including Alagbole, Ijoko, Abeokuta, Ajura, Ayetoro, Ewekoro, and Sango — have been virtually cut off due to abandoned or impassable roads, making life unbearable for residents and stifling local businesses.

It further alleged that despite increases in federal allocations and internally generated revenue (IGR), the government has failed to demonstrate fiscal responsibility or meaningful investment in public infrastructure.

“The people of Ogun State are frustrated. They spend hours navigating pothole-ridden roads while the government continues to make excuses. This is not governance; it is neglect. The governor must own up to his failures, apologize to the people, and immediately embark on massive road rehabilitation,” the party declared.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of the people, the PDP described the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration as a “colossal waste of time and opportunity,” calling on the government to “wake up to its responsibility and restore dignity to governance.”

“Government is a continuum. Passing blame does not repair roads or restore public trust. Governor Abiodun must roll up his sleeves and work for the people who elected him,” the statement added.

The PDP concluded by urging the state government to prioritize road rehabilitation, improve the business climate, and ensure that governance reflects the true essence of service and accountability to the citizens.
