The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has officially endorsed the presidential ambition of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, describing him as a visionary leader capable of rebuilding Nigeria’s dwindling economy and restoring national unity.

Speaking during a press conference in Ota on Friday, the State Coordinator of GHSM, Hon. Gbenga Idowu, said the endorsement followed “extensive consultations and careful evaluation” among PDP stakeholders across the state.

He noted that Dr. Hashim, a former National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the PDP (1999–2003) and member of the Political Advisory Committee to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, has the experience, intellect, and credibility to steer Nigeria out of its current economic and security crises.

“Our nation is facing one of its toughest moments — the economy is shrinking, insecurity is spreading, and hope is fading. The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed not only Nigerians but also the South-West that gave him overwhelming support in 2023,” Idowu stated.

He added that the movement’s decision was based on Dr. Hashim’s impressive record as both a political strategist and an entrepreneur with over three decades of business leadership experience. Hashim currently chairs several thriving enterprises, including Oilworld Ltd., Transnational Energy Limited, and Bresson A.S. Limited, owners of the 90MW Magboro Independent Power Project.

Describing Hashim as “a bridge between the North and the South”, Idowu said his mixed heritage and deep understanding of Nigeria’s diversity make him the ideal unifying figure for the 2027 general elections.

He also emphasized Hashim’s robust economic blueprint aimed at transforming Nigeria into a $4 trillion economy, with actionable strategies to expand the industrial base, strengthen the energy sector, and empower small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).

“This endorsement is not driven by sentiment, but by competence, capacity, and conviction,” Idowu affirmed. “We believe Dr. Gbenga Hashim represents hope for millions of Nigerians who still believe this nation can rise again.”

He called on all PDP members and Nigerians across political divides to unite behind Dr. Hashim, whom he described as “a leader not seeking power for privilege, but for purpose — to rebuild, to unite, and to restore the greatness of Nigeria.”
