APGA Coordinator, Tochukwu Eze In Enugu East Survives Attempt on His Life — Calls for Urgent Protection

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) coordinator for Enugu East, Eze Fabian, has cried out for help after surviving multiple alleged assassination attempts and persistent threats to his life, according to associates and family sources.
Tochukwu, a known ally and former aide to the late Chief Dons Udeh — the APGA governorship aspirant who went missing and was later found dead in 2023 — says he has been the target of repeated attacks by unidentified assailants since his principal’s murder. A close source who pleaded anonymity told reporters that Tochukwu’s prominence and his reported ability to identify some of those involved in Udeh’s abduction put him squarely in the attackers’ sights.
“Our concern is that those behind these attacks appear to be well connected and operate with impunity,” the source said. “He has been ambushed on the road, his home was invaded, and he receives threatening calls from men who say there is nowhere he can run.”
Tochukwu has reportedly endured several break-ins, physical assaults and ominous phone calls from an unidentified caller who introduced himself as “Jack” and claimed affiliation with Enugu East. “On several occasions his house has been burgled; he has been attacked both physically and spiritually,” the source said, adding that the threats have forced Eze into a life of constant fear and displacement.
Eyewitnesses and sources close to the family say the timing and nature of the threats suggest political motivations tied to the killing of Chief Dons Udeh. Udeh — an engineer and former state secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party who later defected to APGA to run for governor — went missing in 2023 and was found dead days afterwards in the 9th Mile area of Enugu State. Those events remain the subject of public speculation and calls for accountability.

Relatives say Tochukwu narrowly escaped an attempt on his life in his vehicle shortly after Udeh’s death and later fled after attackers invaded his home. “He jumped the fence to get away,” one account said. Since then, they add, his movements have been closely monitored and his whereabouts often unknown to the public for security reasons.
A source close to Tochukwu said the family suspects some individuals with access to security and political networks may be complicit. “They are believed to be untouchable people — with connections at the corridors of power — who have allegedly relayed instructions to foot soldiers to carry out attacks,” the source claimed.
Tochukwu, through his relatives, has appealed to security agencies, human rights organisations and political leaders to intervene and provide protection. He has also called for an independent probe into the 2023 killing of Chief Udeh and the series of threats against him.
There was no immediate official response from security agencies or APGA at the time of publication. The allegations and calls for protection add pressure to long-standing demands for clearer investigations into politically sensitive killings in the state.
