Fuel Price Drop: NNPCL, MRS, Others Cut Petrol Price Amid Market Adjustments

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at its retail outlets across Abuja. The price adjustment, from ₦910 to ₦895 per litre, marks a ₦15 decrease and follows moves by other marketers to align with current market trends.
The Eaglesforesight correspondent who monitored several NNPCL stations in Abuja — including outlets along Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 4, and Wuse Zone 6 (Berger) — confirmed visible changes in displayed pump prices reflecting the downward adjustment.

NNPCL’s price cut comes alongside reductions by other major players. MRS filling stations, which distribute petrol refined at the Dangote Refinery, dropped their pump price by ₦25 — from ₦910 to ₦885 per litre. Other outlets like Ranoil and Empire Energy followed suit, selling petrol between ₦910 and ₦915, down from previous highs of ₦920 and ₦935, respectively.
This development aligns with earlier exclusive reports by The Eaglesforesight, indicating plans by petroleum marketers to lower petrol prices to between ₦900 and ₦920 per litre in the capital.
Recall that Dangote Refinery has reduced its ex-depot petrol price twice in July, influencing retail adjustments across the country. Market watchers say further reductions may follow if current supply dynamics and distribution logistics remain stable.
