The Honourable Member representing Sagamu Constituency 1 in the Ogun State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption, Hon. Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello (Dre), was among the distinguished participants at the Southwest Zonal Public Hearing on the National Constitutional Review, held today in Lagos State.

The public hearing, organized as part of Nigeria’s ongoing constitutional amendment process, aimed to gather diverse regional perspectives from the Southwest geopolitical zone. The forum attracted a broad coalition of voices, including traditional rulers, youth leaders, civil society groups, and community stakeholders, all of whom expressed aspirations for a more representative and functional national structure.

One of the most significant proposals raised was the creation of a new Ijebu-Remo State—a long-standing demand supported overwhelmingly by delegates. The proposal suggests merging the Ijebu and Remo divisions of Ogun State to form a new state, with the state capital to be determined through stakeholder consultations.
