Sagamu Youth Association Strengthens Ties With Nigerian Army, Vows To Collaborate With Security Agencies For Lasting Peace

The President of the Sagamu Youth Association (SYA), Comrade Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal, popularly known as Ambassador Easy, has in a significant move to foster peace and security in Sagamu; met with Captain Dotun, the head of military operations overseeing Sagamu Local Government. The crucial meeting, which took place at the army’s mini barrack at Coca-Cola Junction, focused on consolidating the existing peaceful atmosphere in the town and exploring strategies to sustain it.

During the meeting, Comrade Lawal expressed appreciation for the Nigerian Army’s role in maintaining law and order in Sagamu. He emphasized that the association, under his leadership, is fully committed to collaborating with security agencies to prevent crime, curb social unrest, and ensure the safety of all residents.

“The Nigerian Army has contributed immensely to the peace we currently enjoy in Sagamu, and it is important that we seek your continuous support to sustain this harmony,” he stated. In response, Captain Dotun assured the association of his unwavering support, reaffirming the Army’s dedication to community safety. “Whenever you need me, please don’t hesitate to call on me,” he assured.

The SYA president also presented the association’s Security, Education, Employment, and Development (SEED) blueprint, which encapsulates the administration’s vision for youth empowerment, security awareness, and economic growth in Sagamu. Captain Dotun commended the initiative, describing it as a well-structured plan that aligns with national security and community development goals. He expressed optimism that the SEED agenda would contribute to the progress of Sagamu, particularly in tackling youth unemployment and fostering educational advancement.

Beyond the Nigerian Army, Comrade Lawal reiterated that SYA is committed to working with all relevant stakeholders, including other security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and local authorities.

He stressed that fostering a strong partnership between the youth and security operatives would help curb criminal activities, promote responsible citizenship, and create a conducive environment for economic and social development. “Security is a collective effort. As a youth body, we will not only support the Nigerian Army but also extend our cooperation to the police, civil defense, and other law enforcement bodies,” he added.
