As former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Ph.D, GCFR, marks his 88th birthday, notable dignitaries, Christian leaders, and well-wishers from across the world gathered for a spiritually enriching Global Breakfast Prayer Session in his honor. Among them was Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, the Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Remoland, who joined other prominent personalities to celebrate the elder statesman’s enduring legacy of leadership, diplomacy, and faith.

The 61st edition of the Prayer Breakfast, which took place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, was a deeply spiritual gathering that united Christian ministers from 29 countries, reflecting Chief Obasanjo’s widespread influence and the immense respect he commands globally. The event was facilitated by Bishop T. Akin-Akinsanya, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-West Zone, and was moderated by Rev. Engr. A. Ojeshina.

The prayer session featured scriptural reflections, worship sessions, and powerful intercessions, led by esteemed clergy and ministers from different parts of the world. Each minister shared heartfelt goodwill messages, acknowledging Chief Obasanjo’s role in fostering diplomacy, African development, and visionary leadership.

During the prayer session, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking shared a personal testimony of his first spiritual encounter with Chief Obasanjo in the 1990s, when he was deeply inspired by a prayer compendium written by the former president. He described how the book became a source of strength during a difficult period in his life, reinforcing his belief in faith, resilience, and divine purpose.

Aare Emmanuelking likened Chief Obasanjo’s life journey to the biblical story of Jonah, emphasizing how he emerged stronger from adversity, renewed, and divinely guided.

“Baba’s resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to service continue to inspire us all. Even at 88, he remains more energetic than many younger than him. His life teaches us that longevity is sustained by purpose, vision, and continuous service to humanity. When one has a vision for the future, life itself is preserved by divine grace,” Aare Emmanuelking stated.

As part of the tributes, Aare Emmanuelking challenged Chief Obasanjo to continue impacting the world spiritually by releasing an additional 32 editions of his powerful prayer compendium, ensuring that his teachings and faith-based guidance outlive generations.

Reflecting on Obasanjo’s extraordinary legacy, he highlighted how the former president made history as Nigeria’s first military leader to voluntarily transition power to a civilian government in 1979 and later returned as a democratically elected president in 1999, reinforcing his unparalleled contributions to nation-building and global diplomacy.

“At 88, Baba continues to make waves, inspiring the nation and serving as a voice for Africa. As a true son of the soil, may God continue to bless him with wisdom, strength, and good health. May he live long to witness the continued growth and prosperity of Nigeria and Africa. To God be all the glory for Baba’s life. May he remain a guiding light for generations to come,” Aare Emmanuelking concluded.

The Global Prayer Breakfast was a moment of deep spiritual reflection, thanksgiving, and intercession, recognizing Chief Obasanjo’s transformative leadership, divine grace, and commitment to Africa’s progress.
