El-Rufai Accuses NSA Nuhu Ribadu, Gov. Uba Sani Of Plotting To Destroy His Reputation

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, of orchestrating a smear campaign against him to damage his political reputation.
El-Rufai, in an exclusive interview with Arise TV, alleged that Ribadu is behind a coordinated effort to discredit him, citing political ambitions as the driving force behind the attack. He claimed that Ribadu, in collaboration with Governor Sani and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), is working to tarnish his image ahead of future elections.
El-Rufai described the alleged smear campaign as a deliberate effort to sideline him, saying, “This project to destroy Nasir El-Rufai is Nuhu Ribadu’s conception. He is the architect and executor of this plan, working with Uba Sani to implement it. But so far, they have not succeeded.”
The former governor further claimed that Ribadu’s long-term goal is to eliminate perceived political threats from northern Nigeria in preparation for the 2031 presidential election.
“Nuhu Ribadu wants to be president in 2031. To achieve that, he believes he must eliminate every northern politician he considers a rival,” El-Rufai alleged.

The allegations come amid rising tensions between El-Rufai and his successor, Uba Sani. The rift became more pronounced when Governor Sani recently lamented Kaduna’s massive debt burden, a statement widely seen as an indirect attack on El-Rufai’s administration.
While neither Ribadu nor Uba Sani has publicly responded to the allegations, political analysts suggest that the escalating feud could have far-reaching implications for power dynamics within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 and 2031 elections.
As the political drama unfolds, Nigerians will be watching closely to see whether this is merely a war of words or the beginning of a deeper power struggle within the northern political landscape.
