The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled former governor and immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, over allegations of anti-party activities.

In a letter signed by the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, and Secretary, Alao Olabisi Kamoru, on Wednesday, the party announced Aregbesola’s immediate expulsion after a disciplinary committee found him guilty of actions that allegedly undermined the party’s unity.

“We write to formally bring to your attention the findings and resolution arising from the disciplinary process initiated concerning allegations of anti-party activities leveled against you by the disciplinary committee, where you were given an opportunity to be heard in accordance with the principles of natural justice,” the letter stated.

The party emphasized that after reviewing the committee’s findings, the State Executive Committee (SEC) upheld the recommendation for Aregbesola’s expulsion.

**”Having carefully considered the findings and recommendations of the committee, SEC resolved to accept the recommendation of your immediate expulsion from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“The decision was predicated on the clear evidence of your actions, which undermined the unity and integrity of the party in violation of the provisions of Article 21 of the APC Constitution guiding the conduct and discipline of members.

“As a result, with the approval of your expulsion, you cease to be a member of APC. Consequently, you are not to hold yourself out as a member or act in any capacity on behalf of the party in any manner whatsoever.”**

While acknowledging Aregbesola’s past contributions, the party urged him to comply with the expulsion directive.

This development comes just two weeks after Aregbesola’s faction, the Omoluabi Progressives, officially announced their departure from the APC. The group’s spokesperson, Abosede Oluwaseun, disclosed that during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilesa, members voted unanimously to leave the party.

Aregbesola’s expulsion marks a major turning point in Osun APC politics, raising questions about his next political move and the party’s stability ahead of future elections.
