Ezinihitte Mbaise: Hon. Uchechi Akandu Appeals To Tinubu, Uzodimma Over Prolonged Suspension Of Hon. Henry Agbasonu
The people of Ezinihitte Mbaise State Constituency in Imo State have been left without representation since July 2024 following the suspension of their lawmaker, Hon. Henry Agbasonu. This has prompted Hon. Uchechi Smart Akandu to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hope Uzodimma, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to urgently address the situation.
Speaking with The Eaglesforesight correspondence in Lagos, Hon. Akandu emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful governance, stating that President Tinubu has always prioritized maintaining harmony within the APC at both state and federal levels. “When Mr. President was the APC National Chairman, he acted as a father figure, keeping the party united like a family. I believe Governor Hope Uzodimma will follow in his footsteps by restoring peace within the Imo State House of Assembly,” he said.
Hon. Akandu described the ongoing suspension as a disservice to the people of Ezinihitte Mbaise and other constituencies affected, including Ahiazu, Oru West, and Okigwe. He noted that the lack of representation has created a governance vacuum, leaving constituents without a voice in critical legislative matters.
“The absence of Hon. Henry Agbasonu has left Ezinihitte Mbaise on its own, with no one to advocate for the people’s needs or bring their challenges to the forefront. This situation cannot continue any longer,” Hon. Akandu stated.

He further lauded Hon. Agbasonu’s track record of impactful contributions to the constituency, citing numerous empowerment programs and community development projects. “Hon. Agbasonu has always been a leader committed to the welfare of the people, even before he assumed office. His suspension is a loss not just to the Assembly but to the entire constituency,” he added.
Hon. Akandu called on APC leaders at both federal and state levels, as well as Governor Uzodimma, to urgently reinstate Hon. Agbasonu to his legislative duties. He highlighted that Agbasonu’s reinstatement would not only restore the voice of Ezinihitte Mbaise but also uphold the democratic principles the APC stands for.
The prolonged suspension has sparked concerns among constituents, who have expressed frustration over the absence of a representative to address their pressing needs. Hon. Akandu’s call reflects the growing agitation for a resolution to the matter as Ezinihitte Mbaise awaits the reinstatement of their lawmaker and a return to effective representation.
As President Tinubu continues to champion unity within the APC, the people of Ezinihitte Mbaise are hopeful that his intervention, alongside the efforts of Governor Uzodimma and other party leaders, will bring an end to this prolonged impasse.
