Ijagba Youths Embrace Culture, Seek Priests’ Guidance, Blessings In Sagamu, To Celebrate 25th Anniversary Celebration
The members, executives and Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Ijagba Development Youth Association (IDYA) has in their unification marked the 25th anniversary with a ceremonial visit to a prominent traditional temple in Ijagba, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The event, held as part of the association’s silver jubilee activities, drew widespread attention as youth leaders and members came together to honor the rich cultural heritage of their community. The temple visit, a symbolic gesture, underscored the group’s respect for ancestral traditions while seeking divine guidance for future endeavors.
Welcomed by IJO ESIN IBILE AFRICA SAGAMU BRANCH, ORISUN IYE TEMPLE revered traditional priests, the IDYA members were treated to sacred rites and prayers aimed at invoking blessings for the association and the Ijagba community at large. The priests called for prosperity, unity, and continued progress, urging the youths to uphold the customs and values of their forebears.
One of the priests, speaking during the ceremony, praised IDYA’s dedication to cultural preservation and community development. “Youths are the heartbeat of our community. By recognizing our roots, we ensure a brighter and more united future,” he remarked.
Comrade Ogundein Babatope, the executive treasurer and aspirant for the IDYA presidency, highlighted the significance of the visit. He emphasized that blending tradition with development initiatives is crucial for sustainable growth.

“The blessings we’ve received today reaffirm our commitment to fostering development while preserving the cultural legacy that defines us. This milestone reminds us of the journey so far and the limitless possibilities ahead,” he said.
Other IDYA executives echoed his sentiments, describing the visit as a testament to the association’s dual focus on cultural preservation and youth empowerment.
The temple visit is just one of the key events in a lineup of activities to commemorate IDYA’s 25th anniversary. The visit to the temple was graced by the presence of distinguished community leaders and custodians of tradition, including Chief Fayiga Obayomi (Agbongbon Obanlefa of Idado), Chief Ifakunmiloju Oropo Obayomi (Araba of Aruba), Chief Ibikunle Obayomi (Araba of Ariye), Chief Olayiwola Popoola (Ejubona of Ijoku), Chief Ifalekan Obayomi (Asoju Ijo Esin Ibile), and Chief Ifatola Obayomi (Oluwo of Ijo Esin Ibile). Their presence highlighted the significance of the occasion and reinforced the cultural essence of the ceremony. Also in attendance was Erelu Chief (Mrs.) Tanimowo, popularly known as Iya Onikokore, along with members of the temple choir, whose melodic performances added a spiritual dimension to the event. Their collective involvement emphasized the unity and cultural pride of Ijagba as the youths commemorated this historic milestone.
The IDYA leadership used the occasion to call on community stakeholders, government officials, and private entities to support their initiatives. They emphasized that empowering youths through education, skills, and cultural awareness is essential for a vibrant and prosperous Ijagba.
