Senator Gbenga Daniel Champions Call For Ijebu State Creation At Awujale’s Palace

Ijebu-Ode, December 19, 2024 – A remarkable milestone was achieved today at the Aafin Awujale of Ijebuland as Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel presented a comprehensive memorandum advocating for the creation of Ijebu State from the current Ogun State. The event, hosted by Alaiyeluwa Oba (Dr.) S.K. Adetona, GCON, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, witnessed the attendance of prominent dignitaries, including Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, and other key stakeholders.

Senator Daniel, in his meticulously researched presentation, highlighted the economic, human, and material resources that make the old Ijebu Province a viable and sustainable entity. Describing the memorandum as “detailed and beautiful,” the Awujale emphasized the unity and shared aspirations of the Ijebu and Remo people.

Senator Daniel further stressed the importance of the ongoing legislative process, noting the National Assembly’s progress as a significant step toward the realization of Ijebu State.

As a show of commitment, Senator Daniel donated ₦2.5 million to support the cause, further solidifying his position as a key figure in the movement. His leadership and vision were commended by attendees, who praised his dedication to advancing the region’s interests.

The Awujale, in his address, reaffirmed the unity of purpose among the Ijebu and Remo people, urging stakeholders to capitalize on the opportunities provided by the current Federal Government.
