Hon. Damilare Mohammed Bello, the honourable representing Offin, Sagamu 1 State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly has in a decisive move to address critical infrastructure and healthcare challenges, called on the state government to renovate the State Hospital, Ode-lemo, and rehabilitate the 10km Sabo-Ode-lemo road, which links several communities in the Sagamu area.

The resolution, titled “Urgent Call on the State Government to Renovate and Overhaul the State Hospital, Ode-lemo, and Rehabilitate the Poor Road Network in the Area,” was sponsored by Hon. Muhammed Oluwadamilare Bello (Sagamu I Constituency) and co-sponsored by seven other lawmakers.

The Assembly emphasized the dire state of the Ode-lemo hospital, which serves as a lifeline for thousands of residents, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, and farmers. The lack of modern medical equipment, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of personnel have severely hindered the hospital’s ability to provide quality healthcare.

“Healthcare is a basic right, and the people of Ode-lemo deserve better facilities to ensure their safety and well-being,”Hon. Bello asserted during the Assembly session.

The resolution also highlighted the deplorable condition of the 10km Sabo-Ode-lemo road, which has become a major obstacle for residents and farmers, affecting their access to markets and healthcare services.

To address these issues, the Assembly urged the state government to:

1. Renovate and modernize the State Hospital, Ode-lemo, with improved facilities and staffing.

2. Rehabilitate the Sabo-Ode-lemo road to improve transportation and economic activities.

3. Allocate sufficient funds for these projects and ensure prompt execution.

4. Engage community leaders, civil society, and private stakeholders to maintain the infrastructure.

“The deteriorating state of Ode-lemo’s hospital and roads poses a significant threat to the health, safety, and livelihoods of our people,” said Hon. Bello. “This is a call to action for sustainable development.”

This resolution underscores the Assembly’s commitment to improving healthcare and infrastructure in Ogun State, aligning with the government’s broader developmental agenda.

Stakeholders are now awaiting the state government’s response to the resolution, with hopes for swift action to alleviate the challenges faced by the Ode-lemo community.
