Modernization Of Falawo’s Market Causes Controversy As PDP Rally Draws Massive Supports In Sagamu, Bringing Traffics To Standstill
Over the modernization of Falawo Market, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) made a powerful statement in Sagamu as their campaign rally surged through Wards 2, 6, and 8, rallying thousands and bringing Sagamu’s streets to a near standstill. The event, led by Honourable (Dr.) Oyenuga Adeshola Jamiu, popularly known as “Jasper,” created a wave of excitement and hope among residents, who flocked to the streets in overwhelming numbers, signaling their readiness for a fresh start.
Jasper, a long-standing advocate for grassroots empowerment, passionately addressed the crowd, urging Sagamu residents to vote en masse in the upcoming election.
With unwavering conviction, he assured supporters that the PDP is committed to restoring dignity, infrastructure, and economic prosperity in Sagamu.
“Our community deserves leaders who understand our struggles and are ready to work tirelessly for us. Jasper declared to loud cheers, it’s time to stand together, vote, and make our voices heard for a better future.”
A highlight of the rally was the presentation of the PDP flag to Jimoh Olatunji, the councilorship candidate for Ward 8, who accepted it with pride and pledged to serve as a genuine advocate for the people. Olatunji assured residents that he would be a strong, dedicated representative, prioritizing the needs of his community over personal interests. “The challenges we face in Sagamu are real, but with committed leadership, we can overcome them. I promise to be your voice and to bring positive changes to Ward 8,” Olatunji said to the crowd.
Alhaja Taiwo Kalejaye, a respected community leader and the Otun Yeye Oge of Itunsoku, took the stage to further inspire supporters. She urged the people of Ward 8 to stay strong and not be intimidated by the ruling party, emphasizing the PDP’s focus on empowering every Sagamu resident. We must not allow fear to keep us from pursuing the change we deserve,” she stated passionately.
“The PDP is here to represent and uplift each of you, and together, we can bring Sagamu the transformation it has been waiting for.”
In Ward 6, PDP councilorship candidate Hon. Moshood Awoyemi addressed voters with confidence, projecting a strong chance of victory if the people come out and defend their votes. Awoyemi’s message focused on the power of voter integrity and the importance of a free, fair, and defended election. “Your vote is your power,” he declared.

The rally also addressed the hotly debated issue of Falawo Market’s redevelopment, a project claimed by the APC. Leader Waliu Balogun, countered these claims, explaining that the modernization of Falawo Market was a collaborative effort led by the Akarigbo in Council, alongside private sector involvement and community philanthropists, rather than a project solely driven by the ruling party.
Balogun clarified that the market’s enhancement was intended to uplift the economy of Sagamu, meeting modern standards and creating a space for local businesses to thrive. “This market belongs to the people of Sagamu, and it reflects the spirit of unity and progress that we aim to foster in our community under the PDP,” Balogun asserted.
Meanwhile, sources closer to the Local Government and the former Council Chairman has instantly debunked Mr. Balogun’s claim when contacted.
As the PDP rally moved to Ward 2, the atmosphere was electric, with Sagamu residents filling the streets in a show of solidarity. The rally caused traffic to grind to a halt as commuters and supporters from across the area came out to welcome the PDP campaign train. With crowds chanting in support and waving party banners, it was clear that the PDP message of unity and community-driven development resonated deeply with the people.
The campaign rally was a powerful reminder of the growing momentum behind the PDP, as Sagamu residents look forward to leaders who will prioritize education, infrastructure, healthcare, and local economic empowerment. Party leaders promised a future where Sagamu’s youth would have greater opportunities, where small businesses would thrive, and where community voices would shape policy and governance.
As the PDP rally concluded in Ward 2, there was a renewed sense of hope in the air. With Sagamu’s streets packed with people eager for change, the event marked a turning point in the local election campaign. “This is just the beginning,” Jasper proclaimed.
“The PDP is here to serve, to uplift, and to transform Sagamu into a community we can all be proud of. Together, we will build a future that honors our history, supports our families, and creates opportunities for every resident.”
