The National Leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) joins hands with students, youth leaders, and community stakeholders to mark the 40th anniversary of Sagamu’s progress, unity, and development. This significant milestone brings forth a renewed commitment to inclusiveness, youth engagement, and shared responsibility for the even growth of Sagamu’s rich heritage.

In commemorating this occasion, NAPS extends foremost regard and recognition to His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, a youthful and visionary leader whose commitment to the advancement of Remo communities exemplifies a profound sense of duty to Sagamu’s cultural legacy. Under his dynamic leadership, the Akarigbo has continually encouraged the harmonious growth of Sagamu, embracing diversity and fostering opportunities for youth empowerment within the community. His role as a custodian of Sagamu’s cultural essence inspires us to reaffirm our dedication to the values of unity, integrity, and community advancement.

In addition, we commend the leadership of our youth president, Comrade Olugbenga Lawal, popularly known as Ambassador Easy, who has been at the forefront of youth advocacy and development within Sagamu.

His tireless efforts have significantly strengthened youth engagement, addressing critical concerns and channeling the energy of Sagamu’s young generation toward constructive, progressive endeavors. His vision resonates deeply with the aims of this celebration, reinforcing the necessity for youth to be actively involved in the future of Sagamu.

REFLECTING ON SAGAMU ’s JOURNEY

The 40th anniversary of Sagamu represents a journey of resilience, collaboration, and transformative development, driven by the dedication of all Sagamites, both at home and in the diaspora.

With each passing year, the city’s social fabric has been woven tighter, enriched by cultural unity, and reinforced by a determination to preserve our heritage for future generations. Sagamu has grown from a small community into a cultural and economic hub, yet the essence of its tradition and values remains unshaken.

In celebrating this history, the Vice President of NAPS, Comr Walcott emphasizes the importance of embracing a vision where students and youths play a central role in the ongoing developmental agenda. As we look ahead, it is essential to involve our young people not only as beneficiaries but also as contributors to shaping Sagamu’s future, honoring the spirit of unity that has guided us thus far.

ADVOCACY FOR INCLUSIVENESS AND YOUTHFUL PARTICIPATION

We believe that true development can only be achieved when every sector of society is empowered to contribute. We, therefore, call on all stakeholders—including traditional rulers, community influencers, educational institutions, and government representatives to prioritize inclusive platforms that foster youth and student participation. Through this, we can ensure that the invaluable perspectives, innovations, and talents of Sagamu’s young generation are utilized to bring about sustainable and impactful growth.
