Ogun LG Election: PDP Issues Strong Warning To Abiodun, OGSIEC, Police, Others Vows To Resist Rigging, Imposition

The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to bring to the attention of stakeholders, the media, and the general public a suspected plot by Prince Dapo Abiodun, in collaboration with the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), to falsify the November 16th, 2024 Local Government Election results.

We have credible information that the Babatunde Osibodu-led OGSIEC, expected to uphold honesty and transparency, plans to announce predetermined results in favor of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates across the state. This audacious move stems from the misguided notion that the ruling party has an inherent right to win all Local Government elections.

As a democratic organization with a proven track record, we assert that we are not afraid of losing elections. Our party has won and lost elections in the past, but we insist on fairness and honesty. We will vigorously resist any attempt to rig the election.

We put OGSIEC-appointed Electoral Officers, security agencies, the media, and the public on notice: reject any temptation to compromise the electoral process. We will not stand idly by while the popular will of the people is subverted.

We urge our supporters across 236 wards and 20 Local Governments to protect their votes by all lawful means. We shall ensure that collation and declaration of results are carried out as stipulated in section 14 of the OGSIEC guidelines and rules guiding the polls.

We, therefore, wish to encourage our teeming supporters and members across the 236 wards and 20 LG in the state to rise up and take their destiny in their hands by protecting their votes, by all lawful means possible. We are prepared to ensure that collation and declaration of results are not done outside the constitutionally recognised centers and in line with the approved guidelines. The forthcoming LG Election shall be a fundamental departure from the old tradition of open electoral fraud and reckless disobedience to the rules and subjugation of the popular wish of the people.
