CCC Orisun Emi Mimo: SAS Foundation Eases Economic Hardship, Empowers Widows, Ages With Essential Aid To Celebrate Harvest In Sagamu
Amid the worsening economic hardship facing Nigeria, the Samson Adekunle Sarafa (SAS) Foundation, in collaboration with the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Orisun Emi Mimo Parish, has extended critical support to vulnerable families in Sagamu. On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the foundation distributed food and essential items to widows and the elderly ones, offering much-needed relief to those most affected by the economic downturn.
The event, which took place in the church premises at No 1, Taiwo Ibrahim Legunshe Quarters, Isale-ijagba Street in Sagamu saw dozens of beneficiaries leaving with bags of grains, yams, and other staples to ease the financial burden they have been experiencing. As inflation, high unemployment, and rising food prices continue to deepen the struggle for many Nigerians, this act of kindness by the SAS Foundation provided a sense of hope and solidarity.
The beneficiaries, who were visibly moved by the gesture, expressed their profound appreciation to Samson Adekunle Sarafa (SAS) foundation’s founder, and the church’s shepherd, Sup/Evang Wahab H. Tosin Gabriel Tayemise (Eniyan Ko, Olorun ni, OmoIyaWoli). Many noted that the intervention came at a crucial time when they were on the brink of despair, as the rising cost of living had left them unable to meet their basic needs. Some described the foundation’s initiative as “a timely intervention that wiped away their tears” and prayed for the continued success of both the church and the foundation in their efforts to uplift the community.
One of the widows who received support said, “This initiative has come as a miracle. We had no hope of how to feed our families with the current economic situation, but the SAS Foundation has remembered us in our time of need. May God bless them for this act of compassion.”
Speaking to The Eaglesforesight correspondent after the distribution of items, Sup/Evang. Wahab Tosin Gabriel emphasized the pressing need for interventions like these, given the growing number of people rendered helpless by Nigeria’s harsh economic conditions. He explained that the foundation could not stand by and watch as members of the community struggled to survive, stressing the importance of empathy and action in times of crisis.
“This is not a time to look away or ignore the suffering around us,” Olusho
Gabriel Tayemise stated. “The pain of those who are hungry and unable to fend for themselves should be our concern. It is our duty to step in and provide support, especially when we are aware of their dire situation. We cannot let the widows and elderly in our community fall into depression or despair because of hunger or lack of resources.”

He also noted that the SAS Foundation has made it a priority to assist the most vulnerable members of society, particularly widows and the elderly, who are often overlooked in times of economic difficulty. According to Olusho Gabriel Tayemise, the foundation has been deeply committed to community outreach and empowering people through various forms of assistance, and this particular intervention was part of its broader mission to bring relief to those affected by Nigeria’s economic downturn.
The current economic situation in Nigeria has been particularly hard on low-income families, with inflation rates soaring and basic commodities becoming increasingly unaffordable. In the wake of these challenges, the SAS Foundation has positioned itself as a beacon of hope for many families struggling to make ends meet. The foundation’s efforts align with the church’s commitment to social justice and community development, as they continue to work together to improve the lives of those in need.
In addition to the provision of food and materials, the foundation also used the opportunity to encourage the widows and elderly to remain hopeful, assuring them that this was just the beginning of continuous support. Gabriel reiterated that the foundation would keep monitoring the situation and would not hesitate to intervene again when necessary.
“We will continue to stand by Church establishment purpose and by our community, especially those who are struggling the most,” Olusho Gabriel Tayemise added. “This is what the SAS Foundation was created for some years ago – to be a source of empowerment and hope in challenging times. We will not rest until every person who needs help gets it,” Tayemise said.
The empowerment drive by the SAS Foundation has been widely praised by members of the Church and Sagamu community as an inspiring example of what can be achieved when compassion and community action come together. As the country continues to grapple with its economic challenges, efforts like these serve as a reminder of the power of generosity and collective responsibility in supporting the most vulnerable members of society.
Through its various initiatives, the SAS Foundation continues to play a vital role in addressing the humanitarian challenges brought about by Nigeria’s economic difficulties, making a tangible impact on the lives of those who would otherwise have been left behind.
