Electricity Blackout: Sagamu Youths Demand Immediate Restoration of Power Supply As T4 Transformer Breakdown Worsens Community Hardship

The Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) has issued an urgent appeal to the Supervisor of the Sagamu/Remo Transmission Station, Engr. John, requesting immediate action to resolve the prolonged outage of the T4 60MVA transformer serving Sagamu Town.

The transformer has been non-functional for over a month, resulting in widespread power shortages that have exacerbated economic and social hardships for local businesses and residents.

In a letter signed by the association’s president, Comrade Olugbenga Lawal (Ambassador Easy), the SYA expressed grave concerns about the adverse impact on the town, stating:

Small and medium-sized enterprises have been crippled by the lack of power, with many businesses unable to afford alternative energy sources.

Households have been plunged into discomfort, with daily life severely disrupted due to the prolonged outage.

The association is calling for immediate intervention to restore power, stressing that the failure to act promptly could further deepen the economic and social strain on the community.

The letter, which was also copied to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Osogbo, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), and the Sagamu Local Government Authorities, concludes with an urgent plea for swift and decisive action to alleviate the suffering of the people of Sagamu.
