Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale popularly known as Prince Lahbash, a prominent community youth leader and an activist, in the spirit of celebrating Nigeria 64th Independence Day, has delivered a stirring message that resonated across the nation. In his speech, titled “Independence Without Freedom: The Youth as the Key to Nigeria’s Future”, Lahbash emphasized that despite the nation’s independence from colonial rule, true freedom remains elusive for many Nigerians. His address called for unity among the youth and underscored the urgent need for innovation to reshape the future of the country.

Independence Without Freedom

Lahbash began his address by reflecting on the state of the nation, pointing out the irony that despite decades of self-governance, many Nigerians still feel trapped by systemic challenges such as corruption, poor governance, unemployment, and insecurity. “We are celebrating 64 years of independence, but where is the freedom for the ordinary Nigerian?” he asked.

“True independence is not just about raising a flag or singing an anthem. It’s about economic empowerment, security, and the ability to live a dignified life.”

His statement highlighted the gap between the aspirations of the founding fathers and the reality that millions of Nigerians face today. With rising poverty rates and a struggling economy, many citizens feel that the dream of a prosperous, free Nigeria is slipping away.

The Youth Must Lead the Change

One of the key themes of Comrade Lahbash’s address was the pivotal role of Nigerian youth in shaping the nation’s future. He passionately called for a new wave of ideas and solutions led by young people, urging them to move beyond the traditional paths of protest and advocacy.

“We, the youth, are the backbone of this country. It is up to us to create the Nigeria we dream of. We have the energy, the creativity, and the drive. What we need now is to come together, harness our talents, and bring forth the innovative solutions that can move this country forward,” Lahbash declared.

He stressed that innovation is not just about technology but also about finding new approaches to governance, business, and community development. “The solutions to Nigeria’s problems will not come from the old ways of thinking. We must embrace innovation in every sector – from education to healthcare to infrastructure – and find the courage to push these ideas forward,” he said.

A Call for Unity and Collaboration

Comrade Lahbash also urged Nigerian youth to put aside their differences and work together for the greater good. He pointed out that divisions along ethnic, religious, and regional lines have often hampered progress, and called for unity in the pursuit of a common goal.

“Our strength lies in our diversity, and it is time we stop letting it divide us. Whether you are from the North, South, East, or West, we all have a stake in Nigeria’s future. We must come together, collaborate, and pool our resources and ideas. Only then can we truly achieve the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.

Hope for the Future

Despite his critical assessment of the country’s current state, Comrade Lahbash expressed hope for the future. He believes that with the right leadership and a united, innovative youth, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and emerge as a prosperous nation.

“As we celebrate this Independence Day, let us not lose sight of the work that still needs to be done. The road ahead is long, but I believe in the resilience and strength of the Nigerian youth. We are capable of greatness, and it is time to step up and lead our country to where it should be,” he concluded.

Comrade Lahbash’s message struck a chord with many, serving as a powerful reminder that while Nigeria may have gained independence 64 years ago, the journey towards true freedom and prosperity is one that requires the active participation of its youth. His call for innovation, unity, and action is likely to inspire many to take on the challenge of shaping a better Nigeria.
